Wonderopolis Challenge — Contest Official Rules




SPONSOR. National Center for Family Literacy, Inc., Louisville, KY 40202 (“Sponsor”).

ELIGIBILITY. Each participant must be a legal U.S. citizen residing in Fremont, California and must be eighteen (18) years of age or older at the time of entry.

CONTEST PERIOD. The Wonderopolis Challenge Contest (“Contest”) entry period will begin Monday, June 20, 2011, at 8:00 a.m. Pacific Daylight Time and will close on Sunday, July 31, 2011 at midnight Pacific Daylight Time.

ENTRY. Entry in the Contest is available online through the Wonderopolis microsite, http://www.wonderopolischallenge.org.  Entry requires entrants to complete three (3) out of six (6) weekly Wonderopolis Challenges on the Wonderopolis microsite, http://www.wonderopolischallenge.org.  To enter, access the microsite during the Contest Period, complete three (3) out of six (6) weekly Wonderopolis Challenges as directed and submit as directed.  Persons who complete the required number of Wonderopolis Challenges will automatically become eligible to win the Wonderopolis Challenge Prize.  Wonderopolis Challenge entries become the property of Sponsor.  Please read our Privacy Policy for information on how information gathered through the http://www.wonderopolischallenge.org microsite may be used.  One entry per person.

PRIZE. The winner will receive a trip to Washington D.C. for one nuclear family not to exceed six (6) persons (“Prize”).  The Prize will include only the following expenses: coach class round-trip flights to Washington D.C. from the San Francisco, California airport or Oakland, California airport (including airline luggage fees for one (1) piece of luggage per traveler); transportation to and from a location in Freemont, California to and from the approved airports; reasonable transportation expenses within Washington D.C.; lodging in Washington D.C. for four (4) nights consisting of one (1) double-occupancy  hotel room (room rate + taxes only] in a hotel to be selected by Sponsor; and reasonable meal allowances for travelers for five (5) days.  Value of prize may fluctuate based on number of travelers and air travel expenses.

ODDS OF WINNING. Odds of winning depend upon the number of entries received.

PRIZE RESTRICTIONS. No substitution or transfer of Prize permitted, except at the discretion of Sponsor.  Winners must be available to travel between Sunday, August 21, 2011 and Sunday, August 28, 2011.  All federal, state or other liabilities, including taxes generated in connection with the Prize, will be the sole responsibility of the Contest winner.

WINNER NOTIFICATION. The winner will be selected by Sponsor by random drawing from among all qualified entrants on Monday, August 1, 2011. The winner will be notified by mail or email within seven (7) days of selection. If the Prize winner cannot be reached within seven (7) days after the first attempt to contact him/her, an alternate participant will be selected from among all eligible entrants. Upon notification, the winner must identify nuclear family members who will accompany the winner.

WINNER LIST: Prize winner’s name and names of nuclear family members accepting the Prize will be posted to the Sponsor’s website.

REQUIREMENTS OF PRIZE WINNER. The Prize winner and nuclear family members (or their legal guardians) accepting the Prize must sign and return to Sponsor an affidavit of eligibility and publicity release within seven (7) days of notification in order to claim the Prize. If a Prize winner and nuclear family members accepting the Prize fail to sign and return the affidavit and release within the required period, an alternative participant will be selected from among all eligible entrants.  The Prize winner and nuclear family members accepting the Prize cannot secure the Prize until the required documentation is returned and Sponsor has verified eligibility.

CONDITIONS OF ENTRY. By participating and accepting the Prize, participants (entrants and family members traveling or their legal guardians) (a) agree to these Official Rules and the decisions of the Sponsor and its agents, which decisions shall be final in all respects; (b) release, indemnify and hold harmless Sponsor and its respective directors, officers and employees from any and all claims, liabilities, losses or damages of any kind or whatsoever, including but not limited to the infringement of intellectual property rights of others, resulting in whole or part from their participation in the contest and the acceptance and use of the Prize.

GOVERNING LAW. The interpretation of these Official Rules shall be governed by the laws of the Commonwealth of Kentucky. By entering, entrants consent to the jurisdiction and venue of the federal, state and local courts located in Jefferson County, Kentucky.
